Special plenary session

The ISSTDR 2011 Scientific Program Committee is proud to announce the addition of a special plenary session to its program. Given recent research results and their impact on the field of HIV treatment for prevention, we will have the privilege of having Prof. Myron S. Cohen, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to present a plenary lecture entitled  "Antiretroviral therapy for the prevention of HIV: where are we now and where are we going?". This session is scheduled from 4:15 to 5:00 pm on Monday July 11.
Symposium on Haemophilus ducreyi Pathogenesis and Chancroid

In the 11th International Symposium on Haemophilus ducreyi Pathogenesis and Chancroid, an international panel of researchers will present current studies on H. ducreyi pathogenesis, including mechanisms for survival in the human host, identification and structure-function analyses of virulence factors, and gene regulation; the symposium will conclude with talks on the comparative genomics and evolution of the organism and the possibility of eradicating chancroid.

This symposium will be held as a satellite to the ISSTDR 2011 Conference on Sunday July 10. Registration and information on the preliminary program is available by clicking here.

We are glad to announce that the next ISSTDR - IUSTI joint conference will be held in Vienna, Austria from July 14 to 17, 2013.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines 2010


We are pleased to announce the release of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines 2010, which update the 2006 Guidelines, in the December 17 issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Recommendations and Reports.

To obtain a copy of the Guidelines, please visit www.cdc.gov/std/treatment/2010/ or contact CDC-INFO at 1-800-CDC-INFO (1-800-232-4636), 24 hours/day, or e-mail cdcinfo@cdc.gov. Wall charts and pocket guides will also be available for order on the website or by contacting CDC-INFO. A podcast featuring lead author, Dr. Kimberly Workowski, will be posted on December 20 for viewing. 

CDC is also developing iPhone and eBook applications of the Guidelines. We encourage you to visit CDC’s website for additional information and updates on all of these products.
